I heard about this website when you sent me the first E mail.  I am a great
great granddaughter of a Murray.  My great grandparents were James Murray
and Jane Mc Donald.  They were married in Parish of Alyth ,county of
Perthshire,
scotland on 15 Dec,1844.James was born circa1820, Jane was born 1827. Her
parents were William Angus McDonald and Jane Gray from Perthshire Scotland.
Not sure when they came to Australia but they had 11 children,  one of them
Ellen, my great grandmother married a James William Allison, her daughter
was Nellie Maud, she never married, but had 2 children, Hope, who was my
mother and James her brother.
So you see here I am and I am married to a very lovely man called John and
we have 5 chldren and almost 9 grandchildren.  I have 3 sisters and a
brother.

How is that for some basic info.
I have sent your site to my sister Fran Balmer because she is also very
interested in doing the family history too.
Talk to you later. Pat

Hello,
Being a genealogy researcher for approximately 25 years, I have found the name MURRAY and MURRY interchangeable.  My earliest MURRY was born in Maryland, USA, 1800, but I can find nothing else in Maryland about him.  He moved to Ohio and first appears on the 1830 Census.  Nothing in family lore, stories, Bible, letters explains where in Maryland he was born nor anything about his family before his birth.  However, many more recent ancestors spelled the last name either way - MURRY or MURRAY.  Oh, also there is an Eli MURRY who appears in the 1820 census in Ohio, same county and township as my earliest relative, too.

Thanks for any assistance as to where I might search further.

Dear Vikkie
Thank you for providing the Murray website. Apart from the effort you have
put in, I am sure that it will be a big help to all the other Murray's that
were unaware of their heritage. It was a good idea of your grandmother to
suggest it. Unfortunately my scanner is on the blink so I cannot send you a
family picture.
Sylvia and I were very impressed and thank you once again for taking the
time to do it.
Love
Rod & Sylvia
